The fact that your childs school hasn't been victimized by an act-of-vioelnce has little, or nothing, to do with what has been done to prevent it rather...

It's only because it hasn't been chosen - yet.

As a parent, is that concerning? It should be, because it's fact.

Here's the deal: If your child's school is chosen, the result's will be as bad as they are at every school that has been chosen.

Again, sorry, but it's a grim reality.

Why is this the case? Because schools do what so-called experts have told them to do. Like Run, Hide, Fight; get secure entries; cameras; ridiculous things like gunshot detection devices, and notification applications. NONE OF THEM WORK. Think about: Every school that is chosen has most of these things in place yet, they are still chosen and the results are horrible.

You see, school, and really all security, has completely failed! How do I know this:

Remember Columbine? It was a horrible incident, It wasn't the first, however. There had been more. It was, however, the first following the widespread use of the worldwide web. It was really the first incident where we could see the reults as they were happening - live and in real time. The fear and panic on the student's and teacher's faces as they exited the school, the response of law enforcement, and, the worst one - the panic on the faces of the parents that were trying to find out whether their child was alive, or dead.

Columbine was the incident where everyone threw up their hands in disgust and demanded resolve. How can we make sure this never, ever, happens to our kids again. So, the "experts of experts" were enlisted to come together and find a solution. Law enforcement, educators, military, doctors, etc. who were charged with the task - find a solution to this horrific problem and make sure it NEVER happens again.

Fast forward 23 years (or so). Do you recall the incident at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas? Guess what? The results of Robb Elementary school being chosen were worse than the results of the incidnet that triggered a national effort to make sure it never happened - Columbine and, in between, there were several that were worse and many that were close to the same results as Columbine. So, what does this mean? The effort to secure ouyr schools has completely failed. Yet, every time there is yet another act of mass violence everyone throws up their hands and demands a solution, yet again, and to whom do they turn for these solutions? You guessed it - the same exact experts that we have been relying on for the past 26 years now whose effrots have failed thinking, "maybe this time they will get it right and find a solution" and...they don't. School security has not changed and, until it does, don't expect imrpoved results.

Again, think about it: Columbine, that had nothing in place to prevent or resolve an active shooter incident fared better than schools that have done everything the experts have told them to do.

The problem is the experts, the solutions, and the schools not wanting to do anything more than what they are required to do to ensure prevention and, if prevention efforts fail, resolving the incident alive.

It's time for change and the necessary change won't come from schools - for the most part (as there are exceptions however, they are rare). Most schools are not open to change, they are not open to understanding that the local police are not the experts in prevention and survival (they are experts in response. I'll cover police response in another article).

To keep your kids secure, you need to prepare them yourselves.

There is much more to this. The question becomes - is it worth it? It will be if your childs school is chosen!

Understand this: You cannot go back on consequences. Once something happens, the consequences are the consequences. Don't wait until it's too late.
